Classifications

Comp. Level 1:

Max. 6 hours or less of dance lessons/rehearsals per week.Dance Routines will be disqualified if a dancer is found within other classifications, the exception of extended line and production  (Novice OR Open is acceptable).  This is to encourage small studios as well as recreational classes for dancers.

Novice:

is a competitor who has never placed in a competition in the discipline in which they are competing. A dancer who performed in a group, which placed, may not dance as a novice in a group but may dance as a novice in a duet or solo (subject to novice group/line definition). A competitor who has placed as a soloist must dance in the open category within that discipline, but may enter as a novice in another discipline in which the competitor has not placed. 

Ratio of 80% must be novice dancers within a group, line or ext. line routine.

Open:

is a dancer(s) who have previously placed in a competition in that form of dance.

Professional:

is a competitor who principal income is from the performance or teaching of dance (min. 10 hrs/wk). Also a teacher who holds a membership in a dance association, teacher’s certificate, or union card for the performing arts is considered professional status.

Celebrity:

is any non professional adult performance.

Please Note:

NOVICE:
Duets/Trios comprised on novice and open dancers must enter the open category. OPEN:  Groups, lines,ext. lines, and productions may contain 1 professional to 8 amateur dancers and not be showcased. If the ratio is higher that 1:8 within the division then they must compete in the professional category.

PROFESSIONAL:
The professional entries must be clearly marked on the entry form. Not adhearing to these rules will result in disqualification.

Professional/Celebrity categories are not eligible for any Overall Awards, Cash or scholarships.
