Early Bird Discount: You may deduct 5% off of your total if you submit your entries one month prior to deadline and exceed $2500.00. If entering more than one venue please contact us for further discounts that you can use for your studio.

  • Cheque or money order for the total competition fees (less the discount if applicable) is to be paid in full to StarCatchers.
  • Entry forms by StarCatchers are to be photocopied and sent in for each entry.
  • Age is determined by Dec. 31. Competitors must be entered into their age category or the next age group up.
    For duets and trios, groups, lines, ext. line and productions the age will be determined by adding all the dancers age in the routine, then dividing by how many dancers are performing and drop the decimal point. This includes any adults participating in the routine on stage as part of the performance.
  • No competitor may compete against themselves.
  • Birth Certificates are not required with entry forms. However, if the age of a competitor is disputed, the teacher is responsible for providing the Festival Committee with the proof of age. Proof of age must be provided prior to adjudication of that category or the performance is disqualified.
  • It is the teacher’s responsibility to ensure the entry form isaccurate and has ben placed in the proper category.
  • Each entry requires all information filled out including title.
  • StarCatchers reserves the right to combine or split classes, as well as add or subtract days of a competition.
  • All award money is paid to the studio Director.
  • If a set up takes longer than 5 minute for a production then please advise so scheduling can take place accordingly.

Competition Day Rules and Regulations:

The most important thing to StarCatchers is that everyone has a great time strutting their stuff and that the wonderful sportsmanlike conduct back stage that is encouraging for all continues. (Thanks everybody!). We also encourage studios, parents and friends to take pictures during adjudications.

  • Music is to be labeled with your studio name, entry numbers and either in alphabetical order of the name of the routine or in order of performance of the competition program. This is to be submitted to the emcee 1 hour prior to your studios first performance and picked up either at the end of the session or the end of the day.
  • Time Limits are enforced; please avoid disappointment and double check requirements. You are allowed 5 second leeway to compensate for the varying speeds of machines, after which one mark per 5 second segment will be deducted from your final score.
  • Dressing rooms are to be shared and maintained in a respectful manner. Persons found vandalizing or abusing the competition venue or StarCatchers rules will be disqualified and charges damaged fees.
  • Competitors are asked to wear a cover-up when entering the theatre auditorium.
  • Props that could pose a danger are strictly prohibited such as knives, swords, fire, etc. Glitter confetti, or liquid substances are also prohibited.
  • Should a competitor stop during his/her performance, the competitor may dance again, but only novice will receive a mark. This rule does not apply if there are technical problems such as a power failure or equipment breaks down.
  • All dancers must perform 80% of the routine, the exception being the production category. In the event a dancer is absent, it is the responsibility of the teacher to notify the Festival Committee. Only the Festival Committee is then to advise the judges prior to the performance and the dancers will remain in the original category in which they were entered.
  • Each adjudicator will deduct one mark for each additional acro trick after two tricks have been completed.
  • No Communication with the Judges (Oral or Written), by Teachers, Parents, or Dancers During the Competition is Permitted. We thank you for respecting this rule. The Decision of the adjudicators is final.
  • Videotaping, photography eating or drinking are strictly prohibited within the auditorium. We strongly recommend that photos and videos are not taken within dressing rooms as others are also in the room please do so in warm up areas or on stage during adjudications. Thanks very much.
  • All persons entering StarCatchers Dance Festival, the studio directors, instructors, parents, friends and competitors give their permission to StarCatchers to use their pictures and performance as advertisement material.
